Hospice Billing: Billing Process and Overview of Requirements

With numerous updates to Medicare hospice billing regulations, keeping accurate monthly records of claims and having a thorough understanding of the navigation surrounding edits and errors are key to getting paid correctly and on time. This master class will review the step-by-step billing process and provide examples of how hospices have successfully dealt with recent changes. Also scheduled: An overview of  billing requirements for patients enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan participating in the Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) Model.

Hospice Billing: HIS Transmission Requirements, PEPPER, Palliative Care

Daily reimbursement challenges — face-to-face encounters, physician billing, aggregate cap self-reporting — will be addressed in this class. Also scheduled to be discussed: Hospice Item Set (HIS) transmission requirements, the increased penalty for noncompliance, medical review denials, and how Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Reports (PEPPER) affect your hospice. We’ll also review: Physician billing codes for palliative care and the palliative care benefit for patients in the Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) Model.
